Vehicles

Which vehicles do we accept?

Old or new, complete or missing parts, running or not, we can quote for it.

TypeExamplesWhat drives the quote
Private carJapanese, European and Korean saloons, SUVs, sports carsDemand for the model's parts, year, whether it starts
7-seater/MPVAlphard, Serena, Stepwgn and similarHeavier body; steady parts demand for popular models
VanHiace, NV350, H1 and similar light commercialsEngine, gearbox and body parts condition
Truck5.5 to 30 tonnesTonnage, metal weight, special equipment
Electric vehicleTesla, BYD and other brandsBattery and vehicle condition, assessed individually
Damaged/abandonedAccident, broken-down, flood-damaged, long-parkedRecoverable parts and metal value

Private cars, 7-seaters and MPVs

Japanese cars are common in Hong Kong, so their parts move quickly; some European models have higher-value parts, depending on local demand. Whether the car starts and whether it has crash damage matter most.

Vans

Vans usually have high mileage, but their engines, gearboxes and body parts are in demand. Company-owned vans need the Certificate of Incorporation for deregistration, which we can handle for you.

Trucks (5.5 to 30 tonnes)

Trucks are priced by tonnage, age and engine condition. Tail lifts, cranes (hydraulics) and refrigeration units have separate recovery value and are priced on top. See our truck scrapping guide.

Electric vehicles

High-voltage battery packs must be removed and stored by trained staff; never remove the battery or HV wiring yourself. See our EV scrapping guide.

Damaged, flooded and broken-down cars

Repair bills too high, electrics ruined by flooding, or a car that has not started in years: we take them all. A poor condition does not mean zero value.

Company fleets

Businesses, logistics firms and rental companies can arrange one inspection, staged or single-trip towing, and centralised deregistration for every vehicle.

Pricing factors

How is a scrap car quote worked out?

There is no fixed price list, because every vehicle differs in weight, model and condition. We assess the factors below; the final price is confirmed on site.

FactorEffect on the quoteWhat you can send
Type and weightTrucks and large vehicles usually fetch moreVehicle class and weight from the registration document
Make and modelHigher local parts demand means higher valueRegistration document photo or plate number
Year and mileageNewer, lower-mileage engines and gearboxes are worth moreFirst registration year, odometer photo
Starts and drivesRunning cars have more valuable main partsShort video of the engine starting
Crash, flood, rustMore damage means fewer usable partsPhotos of all four sides and damage
Main parts presentMissing engine, gearbox, battery or catalytic converter lowers the quoteSay whether any parts were removed
Special equipmentTail lifts, cranes and refrigeration units priced separatelyPhotos and model numbers

Get a WhatsApp quote in 3 steps

  1. Send photos of the front, rear and both sides (plus close-ups of any damage)
  2. Add a photo of the registration document or the plate number
  3. Briefly describe the condition: does it start, any crash damage, are main parts present, which district

We usually reply within minutes. Quotes are valid for 7 days, provided the condition matches. For more on pricing, read our high-price car scrapping guide.

Paperwork

Deregistration and plate retention with the Transport Department

After handover, the key step is cancelling the registration. The TD requires owners to submit or post the documents to a TD Licensing Office within 15 days of disposing of the vehicle; owners who do not remain liable for anything arising from it.

Documents for deregistration

  • Original vehicle registration document
  • Original vehicle licence (if still valid)
  • Original vehicle dismantling certificate
  • Registered owner's ID (Certificate of Incorporation for company vehicles)
  • Original personalised registration mark allocation certificate (if applicable)
  • Completed notification of cancellation of vehicle registration (TD184)

Keeping your plate number

  • Submit TD129 (transfer or retention of registration mark) together with deregistration
  • The mark is retained for 12 months and must be assigned to another vehicle in your name
  • If not used in time, the TD cancels the allocation

Licence fee refund

When you return a valid licence, the TD refunds part of the fee under Schedule 6 of the Road Traffic (Registration and Licensing of Vehicles) Regulations (Cap. 374E), provided at least 60 days remain. Insurance refunds depend on your policy; check with your insurer.

Special cases

Special situations

Someone else hands over the car

If someone else handles deregistration, the TD requires a copy of the owner's ID and the agent's original ID card. Please confirm the documents on WhatsApp first.

Company-owned vehicles

Cars, vans or trucks owned by a limited company need the Certificate of Incorporation; fleet paperwork can be handled together.

Expired licence

We can still scrap it, but the registered owner stays liable until deregistration, so act quickly. No licence refund applies.

Lost registration document or missing papers

WhatsApp us first and we will tell you what to replace and in what order.

Outstanding loan or hire purchase

Settle and release the loan with the finance company before handover.

Car parked in an estate or commercial car park

Tell management in advance and confirm when and how a tow truck can get in.

Policy update

After the EV "One-for-One" scheme ended

The 2026-27 Budget announced that first registration tax concessions for electric private cars, including the One-for-One scheme, would not continue after 31 March 2026; a one-off arrangement covers e-private cars ordered or shipped on or before 25 February 2026. Please refer to TD announcements for details.

Scrapping, the dismantling certificate, deregistration, licence refunds and plate retention are unchanged, and we continue to offer the full service.
